Chi Host
Chi host has very little to offer. Even though they offer more space than most hosts, that is where the good news ends. There are few services and no options. If a customer didn’t need any services and only needed lots of space Chi host would be a good option. However the majority of customers would be better off with a host who could offer them a better web hosting package.
Hosting
Chi host only offers two plans, the VIP plan and the VIP Elite. The VIP plan offers 5000 megabytes of disk space, 65 gigabytes of traffic and unlimited email. Again, it has lots of space, but nothing else. At least the price is right at $6.95 per month.
The VIP Elite is no different. It offers yet more disk space and still nothing to go along with it. The VIP Elite has 6000 megabytes of disk space, 75 gigabytes of traffic, and unlimited email. Considering the amount of disk space provided $11.95 a month isn’t a completely unreasonable price, but most webmasters would hope to see a little more service for this dollar amount.
The lack of features is perhaps lessoned by the fact that the first two months are free as well as your domain name, but in 24 months the customer will be paying for these packages. If I were the customer I’d prefer service to a free domain name.
Dedicated Servers
Chi host does a slightly better job with the servers than it does with the hosting. They offer 4 managed servers ranging from $99.95 to $349.95. All Chi host servers have either a UNIX or Apache operating system. Chi host handles the building of the server, the installing of the operating system, configuring, software, and monitors all hardware and servers 24 hours a day.
For $99.95 the first server has an Intel 2400 megahertz processor, 512 megabytes, 200 gigabytes IDE, and 300 gigabytes traffic.
At the top of the price range for $349.95 the fourth server has an Intel PV 3060, 1024 megabytes, 250 gigabytes SATA, 750 gigabytes of traffic, and a cPanal Pro.
Services
Chi host doesn’t offer much in the way of services. However, they do have one service. Fantastico deluxe allows users to configure and install over 40 web applications. This would be a great service if it wasn’t the only service.
Support
Sadly, their support is the best thing Chi host has going for them. Chi host has a 99.9% uptime guarantee, a 30 days money back guarantee, 24 hour monitoring of servers, and 24 hour live tech support. Chi host also has how to videos explaining how setup and configure a website available online. If only they’d put that kind of time and money into their web hosting they’d be a better web host with more business. Chi host also offers a 24 hour live help desk.
Before any customer settles for Chi host they should shop around and see what the larger companies can offer them. www.valueweb.com would be a good place to start. Don’t let Chi Host’s large amounts of disk space fool you. While disk space is nice, it’s no good if you don’t have any features to put on it.
